This is my first attempt at quadrille and I have taken the essence of each of these titles rather than one in particular.
Hope I have not deviated from the prompt or the techniques of writing a quadrille. Please let me know in the comment section.
I guess this is
the way with youth
the doubts, the questions,
the dissent, the rebel
yet in the last
orbit of my life
I follow that was
taught by those I
fought; no TV in
the morn; evening prayers
early night - early rise

Since this is my Bangla Blog a Bengali translation (not entirely word to word) of the Quadrille follows. This is outside the response to the prompt.
বোধহয় বয়সের নিয়ম মেনে
সন্দেহের, প্রশ্নের, বিদ্রোহের গন্ডি
টেনে মানিনি কিছুই; কিন্তু
এই শেষ অভিযানের প্রান্তে
এসে ফিরে দেখি পাঠ্য
ছিল যা সহযোগিতার দিনে
তাই মেনে চলেছি আজো
সকাল মানে শুভ চিন্তা
সন্ধ্যেয় পুজোর আয়োজন আর
ঘড়ির কাঁটায় কাঁটায় জীবন
অপরিবর্তিত, অবিবর্তিত নিশ্ছিদ্র বন্ধন

It's a lovely poem, which is what matters most, and expresses an age-old truth in a new and interesting way.
ReplyDeleteThe quadrille is a form invented by the team at dVerse, who specify 44 words (excluding title) and which must include a word given by dVerse with each quadrille prompt. I'm sure you would not be the first to try some unprompted ones without a specific word to be included, in which case I suppose the only rule would be 44 words all told.
I can find the essence of some of those book titles in your piece – but in any case, as the P&SU prompts are not compulsory, you can't do it wrong!
Thank you so much Rosemary for the encouragement. I did not know about the origin of the form. Thanks for telling me that as well. I am glad the Quadrille worked and I guess as a standalone it can survive without a prompt.
