নতুন বৎসরের অনেক অনেক শুভেচ্ছা ও শুভকামনা রইলো পাঠক/পাঠিকাদের জন্য এবং তাদের জন্য ও যারা ঘুরতে ঘুরতে এই ব্লগ বাড়ির দোরগোড়ায় থামেন এবং না ঢুকেই চলে যান। 

Greetings and Best Wishes for the New Year for my readers and also for those wandering souls who do step on the threshold of this Blog House but do not enter into the premise.

তিন দিনের জন্য স্কুলের বন্ধুর বাড়ি গেছিলাম। গুরুগ্রাম।  দারুন কাটলো। 

তেইশে ডিসেম্বর। পৌঁছলাম লাঞ্চের সময়। খেয়ে দেয়ে ছোট্টো বিশ্রাম। তারপর বাড়ির কাছেই ব্রহ্মকুমারীদের মেডিটেশন সেন্টারে দুর্দান্ত আধ ঘণ্টার মেডিটেশন। মন ও মস্তিষ্ক হিম শীতল ঠান্ডা করে ফেরা।

চব্বিশে ছিল বন্ধুর বাড়িতেই নাচের বৈঠক। আমার বন্ধু একটি অসম্ভব গুনী মানুষ । তিনি কথক শিল্পী এবং নৃত্য শিক্ষিকাও । ওঁরই ছাত্রীদের নৃত্য পরিবেশন ছিল সন্ধ্যায় । ছাত্রীদের বাবা মারাও ছিলেন দর্শকের দলে। অপূর্ব একটি মনোরম সন্ধ্যা তারপর খাওয়া দাওয়া ও আলাপচারিতা।

পঁচিশে আমরা রওয়ানা দিলাম তি গাওঁ - হরিয়ানার একটি প্রত্যন্ত গ্রাম। দেড় ঘণ্টার পথ। আমাদের গন্তব্যস্থল - প্রণব কন্যা আশ্রম । আশ্রমের প্রশাসন কর্ত্রী সাধু মা বাঙালি ও ভারি মিশুকে মানুষ। 

আশ্রমটি ভারত সেবাশ্রম দ্বারা চালিত কন্যাদের থাকার আশ্রম । এই আশ্রমে এগারোটি মেয়ে থাকে ও গ্রামের স্কুলে পড়াশোনা করে । মেয়ে গুলির মধ্য কিছু অনাথ আবার কিছু অত্যন্ত গরীব ঘরের যাদের মা  বাবা তাঁদের ভরণ পোষণ করতে অক্ষম। 

স্কুল পাশ করে যারা আরো পড়তে চায় তারা কলেজে যায় বা অন্য কোনো কোর্স করে । পড়াশোনা শেষ করে তারা চাকুরিরতা হলে নিজেদের বাড়ি ফিরে যায়। আবার কিছু মেয়েরা বিবাহিত জীবন বেছে নেয়। 

সাধু মা অনেক গল্প করলেন - তাঁর সন্যাসিনী হওয়ার গল্প, আশ্রম চালানো কত দুরুহ হয়ে পড়েছে সেই গল্প, কী ভাবে আশ্রমটি ধীরে ধীরে গড়ে উঠেছে সে গল্প। সাধু মা আরও জানালেন সি ডব্লু সি অর্থাৎ চাইল্ড ওয়েলফেয়ার কমিটির নির্দেশ অনুযায়ী শুধু হরিয়ানা প্রদেশের মেয়েরাই এই আশ্রমে থাকতে পারবে। অন্য প্রদেশের মেয়েরা এখানে থাকতে পারবে না । তাই আশ্রমে মেয়েদের সংখ্যা কমে গিয়ে এগারোয় দাঁড়িয়েছে। 

আশ্রমটি গড়ে উঠেছে ভারত সেবাশ্রমের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা স্বামী প্রণবানন্দ মহারাজের মন্দির ঘিরে। প্রায় সন্ধ্যা নেবে এসেছে । চারিদিকে আম, চিকু, কাঠাল, আমলকীর গাছ। ঢুকতেই পাখিদের বিরাট খাঁচা । ফুলের কেয়ারি। মরশুমে ফুলে ফুলে ফলে ফলে বাগান ছেয়ে যায়। একটি ব্রহমচারিণী ঘুরে ঘুরে আমাদের আশ্রম দেখালো।

এবার ফেরার পালা। আমাদের সাথে ছিল কিছু খাদ্য ও প্রয়োজনীয় সামগ্রী। সাধু মার হাতে সেগুলি  তুলে দিয়ে আমরা বাড়ির অভিমুখে ছুটলাম। মনটা ভারি লাগছিল তার সঙ্গে একটা ভালো কাজ করার সন্তুষ্টিও ছিল। সব মিলে মিশে একাকার ।

বলতে ভুলে গেছি তেইশ ডিসেম্বর ছিল আমার জন্ম দিন । সেই দিনটি আমার মায়ের প্রয়াণ দিবস ও। তাই একটু অন্য রকম ভাবে কাটাতে চেয়েছিলাম।

পরদিন আমার বাড়ি ফেরার পালা। বন্ধুর রোদেলা বারান্দায় তোলা কিছু ছবি রাখলাম । আর কিছু ছবি আমাদের প্রিয় ভারি ভালো মানুষ ধাতিন সাহেবের ।

I left for Gurugram for a three day visit with my school buddy.

After a sumptuous lunch and short nap we attended a soul stirring half an hour meditation session at the nearby Brahmkumari Ashram. We returned healed and in peace.

My friend is an extremely talented Kathak dancer and a dedicated teacher. In the evening we attended an in-house baithak or an hour long dance recital choreographed by her students. The programme was also attended by the parents. 

At post baithak dinner lovely interaction with the students ensued.

We undertook a one and a half hour journey to Tigaon - a remote village in the state of Haryana. Our destination - Pranav Kanya Ashram run by the well known religious Organization - Bharat Sevashram. 

Sadhu Maa, the Ashram administrator, was very friendly. We had a long interaction with her. She told us about her journey as a monk, how the Ashram got established and the challenges of running the Ashram. 

There are, currently, eleven inmates in the Ashram. They are either orphans or belong to very poor households who are unable to provide for them. The girls go to the village school. Those who wish to study further even attend college or some other vocational course and get into jobs thereafter. After getting employed they are returned to their families. Some are also married off. 

As per the stipulation by the  CWC or Child Welfare Committee only girls from the State of Haryana can stay in the Ashram. "That is why the dwindling number of inmates in the Ashram", explained Sadhu Maa. 

The Ashram is built around the Temple of Swami Pranabananda Maharaj, the founder of Bharat Sevashram. As dusk deepens, we decide to leave .The Ashram is surrounded by greenery. There are  mango, chikoo, jackfruit, gooseberry trees around intercepted by flower beds. The Brahmacharini or a novice monk shows us around. At the entrance is a huge cage full of chirping birds. 

It's getting dark. A little depressing too. We hand over boxes of assorted snacks and a few items required by the inmates to Sadhu Maa and take her leave. 

Going back home we have mixed feelings - sadness as well as the satisfaction of doing a good deed.

Pack up. Return home. Three days spent well with my friend and of course our dear old Dhatin - the gentle soul. 

The pics were taken one sunny afternoon in the balcony. 

Oh! I forget. 23rd was my birthday and also the day my mother left for heavenly abode. That's why wanted to spend the day a bit differently.
